HM visit to RNLI Tower Pier

February 2010

We were delighted to welcome the Queen on an informal visit to Lifeboat Pier in central London, where the crew of RNLI Tower Lifeboat is based. Her Majesty spent a lot of time talking to the crews of the four Thames stations, as well as RNLI staff and fundraisers.

At the end of the visit, we arranged for a group photo with the crews from the 4 Thames lifeboat stations (Teddington, Chiswick, Tower and Gravesend). Standing on the bow of a Police launch, I felt just a tiny bit of pressure to get it right ! After the photo was taken, the Queen was keen to get a copy of the image. I asked if I could provide two photos and have Her Majesty sign and return one of the images. To my amazement, she did! The framed signed photo is now on display at Tower Pier.

Here are a few images from the Royal visit .
